Squirrels

Every week Squirrels, who are aged 4-6 years old, will gather to grow and learn their way through lots of different games and activities.

Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to – and we have lots of fun along the way.

The one-hour sessions are a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.

Sessions are packed with outdoors activities, fun, games, badges, laughter, and so much more to help our youngest members learn the skills they need for life.

Beavers

Beavers are young people, aged 6-8, who master new skills and try new things.

We have fun, go on adventures and make new friends. Beavers are curious about the world around us and we help others and make a difference, on our own doorsteps and beyond.

Every week, we gather in groups called Beaver Colonies to hop, skip and jump our way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything we set our minds to and having lots of fun along the way.

Cubs

Cubs is for young people aged 8 to 10½. We meet weekly to master new skills and try new things.

We have fun and go on adventures. It’s a great opportuity to make new friends and to be curious about the world around us.

We help others and make a difference, in our own communities and beyond.

Every week, we gather in groups called Cub Packs to take part in lots of interesting and challenging activities – achieving anything we set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.

Scouts

Scouts are young people aged 10 ½ to 14. We meet weekly to master new skills and try new things. We do a range of activities where we learn skills for life whilst at the same time making new friends.

We have fun and go on adventures, at home and abroad. We explore the world around us and help others to make a difference, in our own communities and beyond.

Week in and week out, we gather in groups called Scout Troops to conquer the small task of changing the world and learning new skills.

Scouting depends entirely on unpaid volunteers which is why…

WE NEED YOU!

Be it setting up for camp, running an exciting activity, helping out a few times a year at meetings or becoming a fully fledged leader, your help will be appreciated. Don’t think it’s just the kids that get to do the fun stuff, leaders frequently get the opportunity to take part in activities, gain new skills and qualifications. Scouting is also good on your CV. At 1st Hopwas we are a great team!

We also need help behind the scenes with everything from building maintenance, paper work, transport, organisation and more.

If you have a professional skill (first aid, electrician, plumber etc) which you wouldn’t mind lending on occasion this would also be of great value to us as Scouting is non-profit and anywhere we can save money behind the scenes means more money into activities etc..
