In 1966 the old scout uniform with big hats and short trousers disappeared and a new uniform was introduced, allowing boys to wear long trousers. DYB, DYB, DYB, DOB, DOB, DOB was replaced with a new grand howl. Senior Scouts and Rover Scouts were disbanded and Venture Scouting began; Hopwas originally had a Venture unit which later became and air unit known as Merlin.
